1 Hanoi arrival - Walks / Rest (D)

Arrival at Hanoi airport, welcomed by our guide. Head to the city center of the capital.

Depending on your arrival time, you will have time to discover different sites or walk around the Old Quarter of Hanoi, famous for its 36 streets of 36 guilds.

Transfer and check-in at the hotel. Free time.

Welcome dinner and overnight in Hanoi.

2 Hanoi – City Tour (B/L/D)

After breakfast, immerse yourself for a full day in the heart of Hanoi:
Start with Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the stilt house where this figure of contemporary Vietnam lived.

Behind it, nestles the One Pillar Pagoda with its original lotus flower-shaped construction. You will walk a little through the crowd to reach the Temple of Literature dedicated to Confucius and his disciples. Many students come here to celebrate their diplomas by taking photos with their class!

In the afternoon, you will discover the richness and diversity of Vietnam's 54 ethnic groups which are honored in the Museum of Ethnology.

Don't miss a cyclo-pousse tour in the Old Quarter and its small shopping streets... A change of scenery guaranteed!.

At the end of the day, it's the Jade Temple in the middle of the Lake of the Restored Sword, which will tell you the legend of its birth, in the 15th century.

Enchanting evening with the water puppet show, a very popular folk art in Vietnam.

Dinner in a local restaurant before the transfer to the station for the night train to Lao Cai.

3 Lao Cai – Sapa – Ma Tra – Lu Khau – Ta Phin (B/L/D)~3– 4h walk

Welcomed in Lao Cai by the driver, you will have breakfast at a local restaurant and then you will take the road to Sapa. From there you will hike amidst the terraced rice fields of the Ma Tra and Ta Phin valleys. This exceptional but accessible hike is a unique opportunity to discover all the richness of Dao culture.

Your hosts, a Dao family, will welcome you into their home to offer you food and lodging.

Possibility of taking a soothing Dao herbal bath after the meal.

4 Can Ho – Phin Ho – Suoi Thau (B/L/D)~ 5 – 6h walk

On this second day, you will set off on the northern trails in isolated regions that have retained their authenticity.
A long day but not too difficult unless the paths are made slippery by rain.

Meals and overnight in the Dao village of Suoi Thau.

5 Kim Ngan – Ta Giang Phin (B/L/D) ~ 4 – 5h walk

Departure in the morning for this new day of walking in nature!
Magnificent mountainous landscapes will be offered to you throughout the journey.
Arrival at the small village of Ta Giang Phin in the afternoon.

Accommodation and meals in a guesthouse run by the village mayor.

6 Phin Ho – Nam Pung (B/L/D) ( Guide + Driver) ~ 4 h walk

After your breakfast, you will set off again amidst the terraced rice fields, heading towards the Ha Nhi and Nam Pung villages.
River crossings with, if the weather permits, the possibility of swimming.
Arrival at the village in the afternoon.

Dinner and overnight with a Ha Nhi family.

7 Pa Cheo – Muong Hum – Lao Cai – Ha Noi (B/L/D) ~ 4h-5h walk

Easy walk in the morning. Crossing authentic villages, all preserved from countless visits.
Ideally, you should plan your calendar to end this last day on a Sunday, as the weekly market of Muong Hum is held there every week.
Return to Lao Cai by car. En route, visit green tea hills and also a small detour to take a look at the Sino-Vietnamese border.

Dinner in a local restaurant and overnight on the train, heading to Hanoi.

8 Ha Noi - Hon Gai – Bai Tu Long – Thien Canh Son - Cong Do (B/L/D)

07.45: Departure for Halong city - and its famous bay.
12.00 – 12.15: Arrival at Hon Gai pier (Vinashin). Short break at Phu Dong restaurant.
12.30: Boarding the junk.
12.45 – 13.30: Welcome drink and a briefing on the itinerary by the junk guide. You discover your floating room!
13.30 – 14.30: Lunch aboard the junk while enjoying the magnificent natural landscapes of this magical bay.
15.00: Arrival at the hidden cave of Thien Canh Son in Bai Tu Long Bay. Relaxation on the beach.
16.00: Return to the junk. You savor a cup of tea before hesitating between swimming or kayaking...
18.00 – 19.00: A small cooking class – the junk's chef teaches you how to make "spring rolls" and how to cut fruits and flowers to decorate dishes. The bay at dusk is simply sumptuous.
19.30: Barbecue dinner is served aboard the junk.
21:00: Take time to relax: movie, games, night fishing in Bai Tu Long Bay.

9 Excursion continuation – Cong Do – Vung Vieng fishing village – Hanoi (B/L)

06.30: Tai-chi class upon waking, on the upper deck of the junk

09.00: Return to the junk.
09.30: It's time to check out
