1

Vientiane arrival / Visit (D)

Upon arrival, you will be welcomed and transferred to the hotel. 

If time permits, we will explore the capital of Vientiane by visiting the capital's major tourist sites, the oldest Wat Sisaket with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the ancient royal temple of Wat Prakeo, which housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. En route to Laos' precious national heritage, the famous and sacred structure of That Luang, you will have the opportunity to take some photos of the Patuxai monument, which is also known as Vientiane's Arc de Triomphe. 

The last visit of the day will be the COPE exhibition center, which summarizes the major problems the population faced daily in the bombing campaigns during the Vietnamese war.

Lunch at leisure and dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Vientiane.

Vientiane – Oudomxay – Muang La (B/L/D)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Following a leisurely morning, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Oudomxay.

Here, we have the chance to visit the intriguing Temple of Pra Xack Kham with its sacred Buddha image. The legendary 400-year-old statues are said to have many supernatural powers and are widely revered by local Buddhist devotees. 

We will stop for the night in Muang La, famous for its natural hot springs. No activities are planned for the rest of the day.

You can walk around the village or simply relax by the river or at the retreat enjoying a massage or some time in the hot spring.

Muang La – 4WD (B/L/D)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Today, you travel by 4x4 to discover the Ikho hill and the Hmong tribes. 

The journey is truly off the beaten path and offers magnificent mountain views all along the way. 

After arriving at a remote Ikho village, we will discover and learn the essentials about the inhabitants' way of life before starting our 45-minute trek to the Hmong village of Ban Tauser, which is extremely isolated, with superb views of the surroundings. 

You will return by 4x4 to the resort at the end of the day.

Muang La – Muang Khua – Nong Khiaw (B/L/D)

Breakfast at the hotel.

This morning, we will head to the river town of Muang Khua and embark on a private boat for an unforgettable cruise on the Nam Ou River to Nong Khiaw.

This stretch offers superb karst landscapes and remote villages that are only accessible by boat. We will stop to explore a few sites before reaching our accommodation in Nong Khiaw in the afternoon. 

After check-in, you have the option of taking a short bike ride to the nearest cave in the surroundings.

Nong Khiaw – Luang Prabang (B/L)

Breakfast at the hotel.

This morning, we will continue our journey leisurely downstream on the Nam Ou River, enjoying the fresh green forests and the landscape. 

On the way, we will stop to visit the mysterious Pak Ou caves, two caves where thousands of gold-lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes are piled up. 

We will continue our journey on the river to the UNESCO World Heritage city, Luang Prabang.

This ancient royal capital, with its gleaming-roofed temples, colonial-style architecture, and magnificent mountainous setting, retains a unique charm rarely found anywhere in Asia.  You will be transferred to the hotel by private vehicle in the early evening.

Lunch and dinner at leisure. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Luang Prabang - Visit (B/L)

After breakfast, we will visit the Royal Palace Museum which houses a series of interesting artifacts.

We will begin our walking tour of some of the city's most beautiful temples.

Depending on your program, your discovery may include Wat Visoun, and Wat Sene, the oldest temples of Luang Prabang.

The magnificent Wat Xiengthong, with its roofs sweeping to the ground, represents the classic architecture of Luang Prabang.

We will stop at Kinnaly Gallery, where your guide will introduce you to the different minorities living in Laos.

In the afternoon, we will stop at Yensabai, where you can see traditional Lao stencils made with Saa paper (made from mulberry bark).

We will also make a stop at Wat Mai and you will climb Phousi Hill for a pleasant exploration of the sacred and golden stupa, you will also enjoy a beautiful sunset view of the city and the Mekong River.

For the evening, stroll around the night market where you can buy various snacks and appetizers or bargain for mountain clothing or wooden sculptures.

Luang Prabang – Kouang Si Falls (B/L/D)

Waking up early offers you the fantastic opportunity to participate in the daily morning ritual of the saffron-robed monks. They collect offerings from faithful residents. This procession is unique to Laos, the only Buddhist country that still preserves this tradition.

After breakfast, we will visit the local Phousi market, the place all locals visit, and you will discover various goods. We will stop at Ock Pop Tock, a silk weaving center. Here, your guide will give you a tour and explain the silk weaving process.

Then, we will go to Ban Thinkeo, a Hmong village, and we will go hiking with the villagers. Your guide will explain the uses of Hmong plants. You will go to the garden to cut vegetables and herbs with the villagers. When you arrive at the village, you will learn to cook some local dishes in a traditional house.

Lunch will be your collective efforts!

Then, the villagers will put on a Hmong Khène show and local games for you.

In the afternoon, head to Kouang Si and relax in this magnificent multi-tiered waterfall.

Here, we can also stop to visit the Bear Rescue Center, which does excellent work in rescuing and rehabilitating Asian black bears.

Then we will return by road to Luang Prabang.

Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
