The arrival of coffee in Vietnam:

Since the 19th century, coffee plants followed the French who introduced them to Vietnam during the colonial period. Initially, this beverage was reserved for the aristocracy, French officials, or the urban elite. Gradually, coffee became a popular drink in people's lives.

Today, Vietnamese coffee is not only known for its best production in the world but has also created a very Vietnamese coffee culture. The two types of coffee used and cultivated in Vietnam are Arabica and Robusta. Each type bears its name both domestically and internationally in terms of quantity, quality, and taste. The taste of Vietnamese coffee is soaring higher and higher, flying with big brands such as Trung Nguyen Coffee, Vinacafe, ... bringing great economic benefits to the country.

Characteristics of Vietnamese coffee culture:

The strong flavor of coffee has become familiar in the daily lives of Vietnamese people. The sophistication of Vietnamese coffee is reflected in the unique Vietnamese culture and coffee tasting style.

Vietnamese people have their own style of coffee tasting; they do not consider coffee as a quick, effective drink against drowsiness like Americans, but appreciate coffee as a culture of sipping and thinking. Sitting by a cup of coffee, sipping a small gulp while reading the newspaper, listening to music, chatting with friends, working with partners, or sitting down to work, and also reflecting on life, people, ... being next to a dripping cup of coffee, people become calmer, more thoughtful, it calls back memories.

Vietnamese people drink coffee early in the morning, at noon, at midnight, drink when they are sad, when they are thinking, when they are stressed, when they are happy, when they need to share, when they are working or drink out of habit ... And the coffee space has also influenced these succulent pleasures.

Vietnamese coffee is mainly brewed French-style, using a filter. People pour boiling water and wait for the coffee to expand, soaked in water, then filtered drop by drop, very special. Enjoying and anxiously waiting for each drop of coffee to fall into a small cup is a special hobby of people "addicted" to coffee. To keep the coffee appealing, people often soak their glass in a bowl of hot water.

Vietnamese people sip a cup of coffee like Scots sip whiskey, slowly to fully enjoy it and talk, smoking near the coffee cup.

The taste preferred by Vietnamese people is often: fatty, bitter, fragrant almond, earthy. Depending on the region, age, but how to taste coffee in many different styles and not according to any standard. For example, Southerners often wrap coffee in a cloth and cook it in a pot, they prefer iced coffee to hot drinks. As for Northerners, they mainly drink filtered coffee, black or brown, but very concentrated. Some people like a cup of brown ice mixed to a sweet consistency, some are just enamored with the drops of coffee quietly falling from the old filter, others like to drink coffee as a dose of "wake-up".
